15 years ago I took classes from Ken Rowlett at the Friends Building and I was hooked, but my job changed and I traveled more and got out of the habit. When I began to take yoga on the mat I began to recover some range of motion and a lot of my joint pain left. My left hip was hurting every time I went up stairs so I always led with my right. I can now us both legs.
My continued progress on the physical side is enough to continue the practice. I really look at people around who seem to age gracefully and try to observe what the are doing that I might imitate. Being limber ,joint health, and my big one, circulation of the fluids seem to be an answer for me. The healthy older ones seem to just keep on moving. Then there is the mind thing that happens. The serenity and insightfulness are a whole other subject but universal.
Just Do It!
As a member of the club I'm able to avail myself of about four to seven classes of yoga a week. My health and well being have increased and I have lost weight. My career in sales (35 years) led to some very bad habits and the corresponding loss of a healthy body, ( and mind I might add) Open heart surgery about 6 years ago was a big wake-up call.
