I was introduced to Sivananda Hatha Yoga by my mother, Lorilynn Imbler. She started to study in the '60s with Swami Vishnu Devananda. I would emulate her occasionally as a child. This early practice led to a later practice with her classes. My substitution as teacher gave me confidence to become a part time teacher. This move led me to go into teaching full time because of the desire to inspire others to find a self empowering method of living- Yoga.
What keeps me in Hatha Yoga teaching is the love to learn and grow. As a teacher I have prioritized my life to simplify many parts. These sacrifices have created great benefits. The continued practice of yoga is appealing now more than ever. It can be applied as easily as Dr. Bronner’s, literally and figuratively. In a world where each human’s impact increases, consciousness and responsibility will essentially need to increase as well. This is yoga’s opportunity to influence us.
Yoga will come to you. It is a way of understanding more thoroughly. This learning is what much of life is about. It is initially a discipline, and upon realization, Life Itself. Oh, the asanas--great for body, mind and spirit.
Glen, a certified Sivananda Yoga Teacher since 1994, is very grateful to be raised by a mother who has been teaching yoga and spirituality for over three decades. He has studied and practiced in several yoga traditions and with many great instructors. A devoted teacher and passionate environmentalist, he can be seen riding his bike all over Oregon when he is not instructing class. Also providing private lessons and consultations, Glen is a dynamic and loving teacher--sensitive to the needs of his students.
