When it’s time for a break from the ordinary
Gain the freedom to make more conscious choices in your life…
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is a holistic body-centered modality that combines assisted yoga postures with client-centered dialog techniques. While being safely supported in a yoga posture, your body and your mind are invited to relax. Fears and self-judgment drop away, allowing awareness and insight to emerge as your unproductive beliefs are released.
This gentle and non-invasive approach to yoga is a powerful way to assess the wisdom of the body. The techniques used in session facilitate the relaxation of massage, the catharsis of counseling, and the clarity of meditation. Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy can be effective for those new to personal growth work and also for those who wish to complement traditional forms of psychotherapy.

Verna has been a student of yoga since the age of thirteen. She began teaching yoga classes back in 1986, and got professionally certified at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Lenox , MA in 1991. She continued her training in Mind/Body integrative techniques and became professionally certified as a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy practitioner in 1993.
Yoga By Design as a concept came into being in 1992 when Verna opened a yoga studio offering “safe, supportive, affordable instruction in a comfortable, light-hearted atmosphere”. Drawing from that first studio experience, she offers a full range of classes, programs and services designed to “meet people where they need to be met”.
Currently, Verna reaches several weekly yoga classes in the Eugene area and works with clients and businesses on an individual basis. She enjoys her own daily practice as a source of renewal, vitality, strength and humor.
